I read this while I was on holiday in Greece. It took me like a couple of hours to get through this nightmare.
This book is plane awful. Its written in such a simple way that you'd think that the target readership is retards! Not only the main idea was simple and clear, but the author thought the readers won't get his point, so he decided to further explain further what he meant! Feb 01, Barbara rated it it was amazing. Some books come to your life exactly when they should.
Feb 11, Nardine Swaidah rated it really liked it. When I read this book my Spanish was at an intermediate level, yet I was able to understand every thing easly, because Jorge has such an amazing style, a very smooth pen, quit simple To read, yet very intriguing to the mind! Mar 24, Esteban Vera rated it liked it. Oct 25, Huy rated it it was amazing. I actually read the book in my mother tongue, Vietnamese. So, I don't know if there were any differences between the origin and the one I read.
However, to me, it's a very special one. The stories throughout the book are interesting and have various topics. It suits those being alone, it should help you realize something you didn't notice, but they were there.
My shortage of words can't help me to embrace it so you should try yourself. I'm looking for your reviews. Hope I can find someone sharing I actually read the book in my mother tongue, Vietnamese. Hope I can find someone sharing the same feeling. Jan 18, Yana S. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Was reading this book on and off, because this was a gift.
And was really glad to, this book contains a collection of short story, each carrying a unique moral. Not all are purple and fuzzy, but a reader will gain something from each. Has a special surprise not by the author himself as his own personal story. It is good to have a moral cloud ahead of you, and books like these will guide you closer to your heart. Found out later the author is a psychotherapist, which makes sense. More book review Was reading this book on and off, because this was a gift.
More book reviews by him to follow. Dec 25, Antoaneta Vassileva rated it it was amazing. Provocative and on the spot for Reflection and unexpected way to find answers if you look for such ;. Apr 08, Andres rated it it was amazing. Loves this book. This book made me feel like I'm visiting a 14yr old depressed teenage girl Tumblr page.
Nov 16, Jason St rated it really liked it. Great one. Read after bought. You can open it anytime and absorb value. Very enjoyable read and being an anthology it is very easy to read also. It's pshychology, but in the form of simple stories with deep meanings tho and it really do make you think. Some stories touched me more than others ofcourse, and i didn't get at all a couple of them, but the ones i liked, i really loved..
Dec 25, Edwin Dzib rated it it was amazing. This if the first book from Jorge Bucay I've ever read. Book comprises of 24 short stories. Each story is told like a life lesson, saying or pun joke. The story I liked the most is The Warrior. It is about persistence of desire. Nov 30, p rated it liked it Recommends it for: If Spanish is your second language. Shelves: espanol. I would have put this book down after chapter 1, but the Spanish is at my level and the writing is so fluid.
After that, I started to really enjoy the book. It's just a bunch of short stories, each with their own little morals, and Jorge Bucay hitting you on the head with a hammer just so you don't miss the moral. The stories are mostly allegories. If you like Aesop's Fables, you would probably enjoy most of this book. The last couple chapters really slowed down for me though. I at times disagree I would have put this book down after chapter 1, but the Spanish is at my level and the writing is so fluid.
I at times disagreed with Bucay's messages, but the book is called "Cuentos Para Pensar" for a reason - I don't think Bucay means for everyone to agree with him. Book full of interesting stories.
Some of them with really good end. The book is easy-going for reading and let say that the author says you everything directly and this is a little stupid sometimes because you feel like an idiot, but the stories are really interesting and in the other case you must be perspicacious to understand the conception of the story Let say that it was exciting for me to read it because the author is a psychologist and he has a different point of view Short stories that will make you think, yeah, that's about right.
But some are really strange and I didn't quite get the message.
