The way the first book ended makes me wanna cry. Poor Helen and Lucas. I want them to be together! I NEED this book! Like now!!
Or yesterday, whichever is best! View all 7 comments. Oct 16, Patti rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites. They can't even subtract 17 from 19?
This better get resolved early in the book. Didn't see that coming -. So this is a link to an email from Angelini that actually does clear up this date discrepancy. Thank you to Angela who emailed the author! After reading: I can't. Complete sentences. View all 27 comments. Dani-Marie Watson I think she is mixing things up It's not about the actual physical AGE that Ajax died, that's not relevant. That is why it is impossible for him to be her father.
She is 17, therefore conceived 18 years ago. A dead man cannot conceive a child a year after his death! Unless of course with sperm and IVF, we know about those sorts of things, but that isn't the case in this book series. The book characters think a dead man conceived a child through actual sex. They just don't pick up on the discrepancy in dates, because they don't know exactly when he died.
So we, the audience, know this, but the book characters don't. Geek Why? I hate Daphne at this moment in time. Why can't she just be honest and say Helen and Lucas you are not cousins, stop with the bullcrap Why? Why can't she just be honest and say Helen and Lucas you are not cousins, stop with the bullcrap D it's not good for you.
Jun 19, Annabelle rated it really liked it Shelves: cliffhangers , mythology , better-than-the-first-one , favorites , books-that-made-me-cry , gorgeous-cover , love-triangles , signed-by-author , magic , fantasy. Still, it was an excellent read and I genuinely enjoyed it.
I felt that it was an extremely well-done second installment and I was especially impressed by the character development. Unfortunately, it's a rather slow growth, and it takes a while to really get into it. She starts out unsure and weak, just trying to make her way, even if she kills herself. She doesn't really know at first what to do; all she knows is that she has to keep going.
Later, she acs beautifully and steps into her role and really takes charge. However, she is a but too impulsive and doesn't always think before her actions, and it's clear there will be consequences.
I didn't approve of one of his initial decisions. Sure, he was misguided, but it was still his choice. I didn't like at all what he chose to do, and knew there were other ways.
Such as figure out they're not actually cousins. I still have no clue why none of the characters are smart enough to figure it out. He had a pretty great plot twist that I found really cool.
He's beautiful, and I want one. He's such a neat character and he's so kind and sweet. He really wants to help Helen but he's more accepting and open than she is. He helps her figure out who she is and I couldn't help but tumble headfirst into love with him.
He's strong and smart and does what needs to be done. He also has an air of mystery that surrounds him and I cannot wait to find out more about him! He's so freaking hot, and besides, apparently gives amazing hugs, which I so want. In general, I just want him. I love his strength and his gentleness and the deep love he feels for his family. He's so brave, and never backs down. He's protective without being possessive. I completely adore him and would be totally satisfied if the entire book revolved around him dancing with seagulls.
That's how much I love him. ZACK I felt really sorry for Zack in this one, and was sad to see some of his choices but glad to see others.

Review: Dreamless by Josephine Angelini
Starcrossed is a young adult fantasy romance novel by American author Josephine Angelini. The story follows a girl named Helen Hamilton, who is gradually revealed to be a modern-day Helen of Troy. After discovering her heritage, Helen learns that a union with the boy she loves may trigger a new Trojan War. The novel was followed by the sequels Dreamless and Goddess , and received praise from critics and fantasy authors amidst its release. Starcrossed follows a seventeen-year-old teenager named Helen Hamilton who lives in Nantucket. After having a series of mysterious dreams, along with hallucinations of three young girls who appear to be pained, Helen finds herself strongly romantically drawn to a teenage boy named Lucas.
Dreamless is the second book in the Starcrossed trilogy, a Greek mythology-inspired series about Helen Hamilton, a young Goddess. You can read my spoilerless review of Starcrossed here. Heartbroken and forbidden from being with Lucas, Helen has been tasked with breaking the curse that keeps them apart by killing the Furies. One night, Helen meets another person down in the shadowy Underworld: Orion, descended from Adonis and with the power to control desire.
