This inexpensive, easy-to-use router has all the features you need for a business network: four LAN ports, two WAN ports, built-in firewall, browser-based set up, and a host of administrator tools for keeping your network up and running at all times.
Featuring dual WAN ports, the DI-LB can connect to two internet connections simultaneously, effectively doubling the bandwidth of the network and providing a tremendous increase in network efficiency. It also protects the network from connection failure—if one internet connection goes down, the other automatically takes control to prevent any interruptions and ensure network uptime.
The built-in four-port switch allows you to connect up to four PCs directly, or even more by adding additional switches, so that as your business grows, your connectivity can grow to keep up.
The impressive list of administrator features gives your system administrator unparalleled control, access, and notification of network status to ensure that the network is working perfectly, all the time. The DI-LB—offering high return on investment for any small business.
Pros: Great if you have two internet connections and you want to load balance traffic. I setp two cable modems on this and have a mighty pc pushing several hundred torrents out on private trackers and it works GREAT!
Very easy setup. Cons: not able to plug 3 modems in to it lol. Pros: I've been running this thing for over 3 years and it still works perfect! Pros: You can get some smoken fast downloads. Others on the LAN side, including myself, experience very slow page loads, time outs, drop outs, I upgrade the firmware, but all that did was give me more pages of stuff that I could configure. Overall Review: wile searing for help with this thing I found;.
Pros: Load balances two WAN connections e. Easy to set up and manage once you get used to the user interface. If it continues to work reliably this will be a great product for me, as I rely on constant internet uptime for all of my work and a lot of my play.
Other connections seem to do well with load balancing. Phone support was great for me. Cons: UI and overall latency suffers in comparison to other D-Link routers e. DGL, which I also own. Cannot truly balance certain types of connections e. HTTPS , but does well on others. Can be difficult to find things without getting tech support on the phone.
Many configuration changes seem to require a hard reboot of the device, even after it says it is restarting itself. This is weird, as it seems like you should be setting the source IPs, but whatever. It fixes the problem. If you understand why you would need to do such a thing, this product will probably be great for you.
If you can't really follow these instructions or you don't want to be required to, this product may be a bit too difficult to use for you. Pros: Router does exactly what it advertises.
As long as you understand networking, and know that browsing, FTP, email attachment downloads, and pretty much anything else that could be considered single-connection, will not gain any additional speed by using this router in place of a single-wan router. This router performs best in a multi-PC, multi-connection environment. Multiple downloads, multiple web-pages, and torrents are a good example of what this router will enhance.
It's also great if you like to have your friends over for LAN partys. Cons: The UI could be somewhat more intuitive, but considering the nature of this router, it might be best to stay as is or possibly be even more complex. Overall Review: To those who claim this router doesn't load balance, you're wrong.
I own a small network service and integration firm in my hometown. I've setup several of these and highly recommend them. However, you must know what you're doing. First and foremost, if you've got only one PC, and think this will improve your game ping-times or single-file, single-connection download speeds, you're wrong. Furthermore, you must know how to properly configure this device. Any problems you might experience come from whatever "server" and it's inability to understand that one PC is using two IP addresses to make a connection.
Server software just isn't designed to handle that. Anyway, if you've got multiple PCs, or as one user stated, download multiple torrents, you're in luck!.
Server software just isn't designed with that in mind. Anyway, if you've got multiple PCs, or as one user stated, download multiple torrents i. I use it just fine with only my cable modem attached.
An example of sites that break down: internet banking, PayPal, and Google Adsense. If I want to access these sites, I must unplug one of the internet connections from the back of the modem. I can find no settings that will allow the modem to work with secure websites. Pros: Easy setup and configuration. Good D-link tech support by phone 24x7. Cons: Does not handle network outages on one WAN port to maintain continuous connectivity.
No packet prioritization logic. Slow UI. It's not designed to do that. Then it occurred to me that this unit is just a glorified Ethernet switch! So I pulled the unit. Amazingly, upload speeds improved by almost kpbs.
And better multitasking. So my suggestion for users looking to tie a second ISP into their network for redundancy and better multitasking: get a GamerLounge and connect an upstream switch to it.
