Like S, its PNP alternative S is also a widely used transistor, it is a reliable low cost transistor with very good technical characteristics. It is designed for audio amplification and other general requirements in electronic circuits but apart from that it is also used widely in commercial appliances. The S possess some very good features in its small TO package therefore it can be used in many electronics applications for example the output dissipation is 1 watt which is very good feature to use it for amplification of audio signal to around 1 watt and also in many other audio amplification stages. The max collector current is mA hence it can also be used for variety of switching application in electronic circuits. The max gain of the transistor is which is also a plus point of this transistor.

It only takes a minute to sign up. It has ceased to deliver charge current to the battery but the half wave rectified current is present at what I think is the emitter of a TO92 cased device labelled "S". I have found confusing information trying to identify this device. Does anyone have experience with this "transistor"? If the info I found is correct then I guess I can search using the max ratings to find a sub. It is the only transistor on the small circuit board which also contains a quad op-amp.
Is it likely that a TO92 cased device would control current to charge a 7 amp hour battery or might this be a voltage reference? Example datasheet of a similar part here.
