The objectives of this research were to identify and to describe about misconceptions, and to find out the levels of response of VIII grade students of SMP N 5 Karanganyar experiencing misconceptions about factorization of the tribe in algebra based on SOLO taxonomy. This research was categorized as a qualitative research using a case study design which was only focused on one selected and comprehended phenomenon deeply, and neglecting other phenomena. The criteria to choose the main subject of the research were that the students had learnt a topic about factorization of the tribe in algebra and the main subject were taken based on test results by using CRI technique and the teacher's recomendation.

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen semu. Metode angket untuk data motivasi belajar siswa dan metode tes untuk data prestasi belajar matematika siswa untuk materi Faktorisasi Suku Aljabar. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis variansi dua jalan dengan sel tak sama. Sebagai persyaratan analisis yaitu populasi berdistribusi normal menggunakan uji Lilliefors dan populasi mempunyai variansi yang sama homogen menggunakan metode Bartlett. Untuk memenuhi syarat penelitian, dilakukan uji keseimbangan dengan uji-t untuk kedua kelas yang digunakan.

Sedangkan untuk siswa yang memiliki motivasi belajar tinggi maupun sedang menghasilkan prestasi belajar matematika yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang memiliki motivasi belajar rendah. Pada siswa yang memilki motivasi belajar sedang, penggunaan model pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project MMP Berbantuan Kartu Masalah menghasilkan prestasi belajar matematika yang lebih baik daripada model pembelajaran Langsung.

The research employed a quasi-quantitative experimental method. Technique of analyzing data employed was a two-way variance analysis with different cells following the normality test with Liliefors method and homogeneity test with Bartlett method. Both groups should be in equilibrium using the t-test. The interactions are: a at Missouri Mathematics Project MMP Assisted Problem Card learning model, students with high learning mathematics motivation produce the mathematics learning achievement is better than the ones with medium and high learning mathematics motivation; b at Direct learning model, students with high learning mathematic motivation produce the mathematics learning achievement the same as the ones with medium and low mathematics learning motivation; c at the students with high learning mathematics motivation, Missouri Mathematics Project MMP Assisted Problem Card learning model produce the mathematics learning achievement better than Direct learning model.

At the students with medium learning mathematics learning motivation, Missouri Mathematics Project MMP Assisted Problem Card learning model produce the mathematics learning achievement better than Direct lerning model. Location of Repository.
